An Artists' Residence
For more than 30 years, these walls sheltered the life of Jacques Pernoo, a major figure in French classical music. Director of the Bordeaux Conservatory of Music and internationally renowned conductor, he led the most prestigious ensembles, from the National Orchestra of ORTF to the Rio de Janeiro Opera. Knight of the Legion of Honor and Officer of Arts and Letters, he shared this home with his wife, Paulette Mauraine, a professor at the Bordeaux Conservatory.
Three decades during which “Le Clos Saint-Jean“ became a place where music and artistic excellence were lived daily. Jacques Pernoo’s compositions for symphony orchestra, choirs, and chamber music undoubtedly found their inspiration in the tranquility of this place.
